Hooked on Klipsch It started as a whim. I have been trying to make up for the mistake of selling the best pair of Heresy's I'll see for a long time. 4/2/2008 update: I think I've done it. I found another pair at the Goodwill today. $50.00 for a near identical pair to the one's pictured here except these have the risers but missing the nameplates. They are late '70 sn# HWO with unmolested cabinets, all drivers intact and looking exceptional. They will get the high energy reconditioning, including acoustic lining, upgraded crossovers, 4-stage wood treatment (Howard's Restore-A-Finish, high grit sandpapers, 0000 steel wool, pure satin beeswax). I am thinking of going with the 3rd generation Heresy bi-wiring terminal setup. I am working on the before/after pics page, in time...

| Klipsch Heresy Walnut Oil (w/risers)
I picked these up off an ad in the thrifty's in the local want ads. $125 each. When the owner auditioned them for me his dog did laps around the speakers the entire time, rubbing up against the speaker cabinets. You can imagine that after a few years they had gotten pretty disgusting. Close inspection revealed only a minor structural flaw, which was repaired after these photos were taken. It took one full week and hell of a lot of elbow grease to get them to look this way. I sold them on eBay for $600 to a buyer in Potomac, MD and have regretted it ever since. I am searching for a pair of very early HWO's, the ones with the pie logo and red ring woofer. We will have them, my preciousssss. I just watched a pair of ULTRA RARE 2 way heresy's sell on eBait. I simply wasn't financially prepared to go the distance on them. I will regret that as well. |
 | Satin Walnut Oil Starting with 400 wet with Rocklers best wood restorer, 600, 800, 1200, 0000 steel wool. Finished with natural satin beeswax. Goofy digital camera artifacts shows jagged edges at the near 'left' side, but all of the edges were perfectly creased and all corners square and clean like the far 'right' side edge. |
